Seagull ‘Grand Artist’
I got this guitar in 2018 from a dear friend of mine. Seagull guitars are made in Canada by Godin. This model is a called parlour guitar, with a slender, smaller body. Parlour (or parlor in America) guitars were favoured by early blues guitarists but were pretty much forgotten by the middle of the last century, once the music world had gone electric. They’re now enjoying a renaissance, not surprisingly given the uniqueness of their tone and how comfortable they are.
I use my one mostly for songwriting and play gipsy swing and hardcore fingerpicking. I used it in the studio on a few occasions. Its midrange tone cuts through the mix without cluttering the bottom end. I fitted it with a Fishman Rare Earth pickup, which is a bit of a squeeze, though I suspect that a piezo pickup would be more appropriate
